This project deals with new technologies for smart textiles. The new product is a smart intervention suit with integrated microsystem designed to enhance the safety of workers who are exposed to dangerous conditions.
The microsystem will be able to monitor the worker’s physiological functions, detect dangerous gases in the immediate surroundings, and measure temperature and humidity inside and outside the protective suit, providing a base on which temperature capacity can be determined. The temperature capacity will be monitored in real time and lead to the prevention of temperature stress and user burns. Particularly in fire fighter protection, for example, a system for monitoring and detecting movement, location inside buildings, reporting alarm conditions above critical values, and wireless data transmission to a central unit operated by the intervention commander, will be developed.
