The Faculty of Electrical Engineering was founded along with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1960 by a division of the Institute of Technology in Pilsen. New disciplines aimed at electro-energetics, electronics, and computers were included.
It is currently a part of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, founded on 28th September 1991. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering is divided into five departments, depending on their main field of research and development, each offering their own specialization and services, including technical equipment, to industry partners from the Czech Republic and abroad.

The Faculty of Textile Engineering is active in the science-development field. Thanks to discoveries such as the new technology of nanofiber surface structures manufacture, it is one of the most prestigious university institutes. Radek Jaroš is the most successful Czech Himalayan professional mountaineer and small expedition specialist. He climbs entirely without the use of breathing apparatus or carrier assistance. In 2014, Radek successfully conquered his fourteenth and final eight-thousander – K2 – and was inducted into the world of mountaineering Hall of Fame. He is only the 15th person in the world to have earned the so-called “Crown of the Himalayas”.

The Society was founded in 2013.
The St. Procopius Society is the contractual owner of the Church of St. Procopius in Letiny. The aim of the Society is to care for historical buildings and cultural monuments in the village of Letiny (Pilsen-South district) whilst trying to maintain and increase tourism in Letiny and its surroundings.
